"Incomplete" Educating

Two semesters ago one of my professors handed me back a paper that said "incomplete" instead of just giving me a "0" on that part of the rubric. It isn't merciful to students to "give them a second chance" and to "work with them" in my opinion. I was grinding my teeth for about a week wondering why she gave me an "incomplete" and how that would translate into a grade. I finally went in to see her about it and she was aghast at how her righteous behavior hadn't helped me realize my naughtiness. I asked her to just give me a "0" on that part of the paper, and she kept on fighting me on it. That pissed me off so much. She was trying to force-feed me her good will. It was aggravating as hell.

I don't speak for all students, but that kind of behavior in teachers personally drives me insane. Actually I kind of do speak for all students-- none of us in that class liked her at all.
