I do a lot of PC Gaming, and LexiconVII is the name of my in-game character. Why choose Lexicon? Most people ask. What is a Lexicon? The ignorant ones ask.
A lexicon is a wordbook, or group of words that is applied to a particular field. So all of the jargon of car mechanics would be considered a lexicon. It is a subset of words in a language.
The etymology of the word "lexicon" originally was passed down from the Greek 'legein' meaning 'speak,' then to 'lexis' meaning 'word,' and from there to 'lexikon biblion': 'book of words.' Finally, it was taken into the lexicon (see what I did there?) of Modern Latin, which means that try-hard scholars in Europe pretended like 'lexicon' was an actual Latin word.
My choice of the name Lexicon for my gamer-tag has a past of its own. Throughout my life I have really loved learning new words; really stretching the limits of my vocabulary was exciting (I can feel your mutual jubilation)! I burned through my vocabulary book in high school, and bought the subsequent workbooks in the series, so that I could finish them and develop a more potent pool of word power to employ. So I chose Lexicon because of my love of words. Also, it sounds really cool and is somewhat reminiscent of the Decepticons from the Transformers series.
I chose the word heterotextual for this blog because again, it sounds cool, but also because I like to cross texts, juxtaposing different ideas, making mental connections. Whether those texts are actual written manuscripts, moving pictures ("movies"), PC games, news articles, Youtube videos, or actual events that life has written out for me or the humans I have known, I make comparison, contrast experiences, and try to come to valuable (or at least really interesting, cool) conclusions.
Heterotextuality is a word that I will make happen, in the same way that Shakespeare made up the word "skim milk." In other words, it will be a healthy, bone-building blog.
